Welcome to our new blog!
The staff at the Center for Excellence in Teaching at Learning at the University of Mississippi are excited to launch our new blog via Substack!
This blog is part of our efforts to foster dialogue among the UM teaching community (and beyond!) about teaching and learning so we can continue to adapt to the changing technology, student body, and understanding in our fields.
We launched our original blog last summer on our website, cetl.olemiss.edu, but since that site is moving to a new university-provided platform that doesn’t support blogging, we decided to move the blog to Substack. We’re just having too much fun writing these blog posts!
The easiest way to follow along is to subscribe to the blog via Substack. If you received this via email, then you’re already subscribed! (You can always opt out if you want.) Otherwise, just look for the subscribe button wherever you’re reading this. By subscribing with your email address, you’ll get all our new posts delivered right to your inbox. (You’re also welcome to just bookmark this site and visit occasionally to see what’s new.)
All of the blog posts from our old site have been archived here, so you can start reading them now, if you like. Here are a few recommendations to get you started:
- Student Belonging in STEM by Derek Bruff, with highlights from a fall STEM teaching lunch on the topic of student belonging
- CETL Program Spotlight: Inclusive Teaching Learning Community by Emily Donahoe, with highlights from the 2023 cohort of one of CETL’s course redesign program
- What Instructors Need to Know When Working with Neurodivergent Students by Liz Norell, with resources and practice advice for teaching students with ADHD, autism, and more
Look for new posts from us here on the blog about once a week during the academic year. And feel free to share comments or questions either on Substack or by emailing cetl@olemiss.edu.
